You Bet Your Life #57-09 John Charles Thomas attacks Rock and Roll ('Room', Dec 5, 1957)

Описание к видео You Bet Your Life #57-09 John Charles Thomas attacks Rock and Roll ('Room', Dec 5, 1957)

Groucho joins in with some impromptu harmony as popular vocalist John Charles Thomas sings a song about golf at 10:12. Groucho had quite a good ear for harmony-- he and his fellow Marx brothers started their career as a singing group called "The Four Nightingales". Another highlight here is Groucho dancing with Beverly Adlund as she sings "All Shook Up" at 12:00.

The rest of the first couple's segment consists of a debate over the artistic worth of Rock and Roll music. Groucho calls a volunteer down from the audience, Roberta Rene, to take up the defense. She turns out to be the head of the Elvis Presley fan club! This had to have been set up in advance, it's too big a coincidence.

During the quiz, John Charles Thomas steps out in favor of a serviceman from the audience, Terry O'Neil.

COUPLE #1: Beverly Adlund / John Charles Thomas, popular baritone
