Good things, it it said, come to those who wait. Well, the women of Fanny have been waiting since the ’70s to get their due. But thanks to the recent documentary film Fanny: The Right To Rock, this groundbreaking female band are finally seeing the respect they deserve. Directed by Canadian filmmaker Bobbi Jo Hart, the movie follows the California group through the ups and downs of a career that included five major-label albums, tours with everyone from Slade to Chicago, praise from artists like David Bowie and even a recent comeback album. Featuring tons of archival footage and commentary from friends and famous fans including Joe Elliott, Bonnie Raitt, Earl Slick and others, it's one of the most revealing music docs of the year. Here in Canada, it's been streaming on TV for several months. But in America, it's just debuting in theatres — so bandmembers June Millington, Alice De Buhr and Patti Quatro Zoomed in to talk to me about the film, bad timing, backing Barbra Streisand and more.
