Easiest Way To Save $$ While In The Military + Learn A Skill

Military servicemembers are required to get a fresh haircut weekly.

After a while, it gets expensive, so how do we mitigate the high cost with this requirement?

I learned early on, I could do this one simple thing and keep a few extra bucks in my pocket every single week.

I taught myself how to cut my own hair in high school, and continued to do so throughout my entire military career. I even brought my clippers with me on deployment and cut hair whenever I could.

At about $25-$30 plus tip these days, I can estimate, I’ve save anywhere between $20k - $25k over the course of my career. All with a minor investment of a good set of clippers (about $100).

It doesn’t need to be the best haircut, because it’ll grow back una. Few days, and you’re required to come into work next Monday with a fresh cut anyway.

The point is, I learned a new skill that will paid off dividends, and I had a great time teaching other folks to do the same.

Learn the skill, and pass it on to the person to the right and left of you.
