Gold and silver have long been associated with religious rituals throughout various societies. They are often used to create sacred objects, adornments, and symbols that are integral in such practices. In many ancient civilizations, gold and silver were considered celestial metals that connected humans to masculine sun and feminine moon divine respectively. The Rebis is a being of both male and female qualities, the sun and moon corresponding to the male and female halves.

Within Elden Ring, gold can be seen as symbolizing the Greater Will, Erdtree, Godwyn, Leyndell and of course the Golden Order; while silver symbolizes the Dark Moon, night sky, Ranni, the Eternal Cities and the Nox. The Shattering resulted in the Greater Will punishing Marika for her betrayal by merging her with Radagon, imprisoning them all within the Erdtree. What if prior to the Shattering the original plan was to fuse Godwyn and Ranni instead? Godwyn representing the sun and Ranni representing the moon - two opposites - in order to form the Rebis, a physical vessel strong enough to contain the Greater Will.
