Welcome back to another day on our Virgin Voyages adventure aboard the beautiful Scarlet Lady! Today is Day 4 of our Irresistible Med & Rome cruise, and it’s a big one — we’re off to explore the incredible city of Rome, packed with history, culture, and some of the most famous landmarks in the world.
After catching the early coach from the port of Civitavecchia, we arrived in the heart of Rome and set out on foot to the legendary Colosseum, over 1,950 years old and still jaw-dropping to see in person. From there, we wandered through the ancient ruins of the Roman Forum and climbed Palatine Hill for those sweeping city views — simply stunning.
Next up was a visit to the impressive Victor Emmanuel II Monument, followed by Trajan’s Column, standing tall for nearly 2,000 years. Then we headed to the beautiful Trevi Fountain, where the atmosphere was absolutely buzzing, and of course we threw in a coin for good luck!
We continued through Rome’s charming streets to the Spanish Steps, almost 300 years old and still one of the city’s liveliest spots. After that, we made our way to the magnificent Pantheon, nearly 2,000 years old, with that unbelievable open dome that never fails to amaze.
Before returning to the ship, we stopped at the peaceful Church of Saint Vincent & Anastasius, a lovely moment of calm in the middle of the city.
Back on board Scarlet Lady, we headed to The Wake for a delicious dinner — honestly, the food and service were brilliant once again. As part of our Romance Package, we enjoyed a lovely bottle of champagne with our meal, which made the whole evening feel extra special.
After dinner we made our way to On The Rocks, where we enjoyed a couple of delicious cocktails while listening to the fantastic DJ Tash, who had the whole place buzzing. Such a perfect end to a big day exploring Rome!
