I am a Spanish resident, i got stuck in the UK when i went back to visit my family in December, but i managed to return January 12th!

I took the 22:15 ferry from Portsmouth to Santander, if you catch the ferry during the day it takes one night with an evening arrival, but if like me you take the night time departure, you spend 2 nights on board and arrive early morning on the third day.
You dont spend the extra night stationary, the ferry keeps moving all the time

The ticket cost was €398.
€300 for the car,
€98 for the cabin with window.
(You can choose a reclining lounge chair for €9 but its not private)
When i checked the price for an extra passenger it didn't increase,
You pay for the cabin and the car.
