Описание к видео 1948 Philco radio 48-200 Silent no more

Trouble shoot. I should say learning to trouble shoot.
Unsoldering finally, recapping the electrolytic, re-do one because (I put to high of micro farad cap on it) I didn't know (I thought bigger was better) until I read that doing that can shorten the life of the tube.
I explained in the last video I have 48 200 code 121 and even in the service paper work it explains, that first out in 48 200 was the code 125 . 2 different tubes meaning you would have to change all the pins and functions of what they do by pain staking research. To by pass that bring up the next years radio called 49 500 if you have 48 200 code (121 or code 122), use that schematic now you have the correct one.
I review how the rectifier tube is way diff. than a amp tube.
I review how the converter and the detector are diff. from an amp tube. But not as diff. as the rectifier tube. Detector & converter still working the normal way. Cathode heats up from filament heating it. Pulls neg electrons toward the pos. plate with the tiny RF or IF high frequency ac signal controlling the flow form the grid entrance.
Where the difference is. The converter mixes creating a new signal by sending 4 diff. signals to the oscillator transformer that will throw 3 of them out.
The detector dual tube also uses normal flow inside the tube but when moving the signal along detects it to audio frequency (normal in at the grid and out at the plate), it just doesn't amplify it. It's a dual duty tube and the pre amp side does that .
The magnetic wave sent out at the speed of light form a radio station. Once it vibrates by the hitting your antenna. It is now changed to a tiny a/c high frequency in your radio circuits. It can't move any more. But it arrives at each point in the radio at a tube grid and is sent thru the tube, get's amplified a tiny bit each time. that's what moves it along.
The radio, after sitting some where on someone's shelf for 40 years or more multiple things can go wrong. I could list them but I'll spoil the video. Oh I guess i could list more of what I learned and more of what i found. a burnt resistor... a drifted resistor....a shorted wire strand sticking into another wire....a failed mica cap... a dead oscillator..my own doing that power supply mismatch (I lowered the cap micro farad rating from 47 to 20) that's all I had on hand.... repaired the loop antenna ...learned the names of both types of tube sockets...octal and loctal...learned i needed to buy that older tube tester in the last video/Learned after buying 3 of the same detector tube that tube tester have a hard time reading dual purpose tubes and that they all work . Learned in the other video, that even if 3 way, multi electrolytic has been changed 1x from leaving the factory. Cut it out and change it again. learned don't risk the 50A5 amp tube change the paper coupler cap as if it goes bad will take out the amp tube....noticed the difference from red plating to just the center post in the rectifier tube heating up to and thru the top plate. Making it look like red plating when really its when the whole top plate itself turns red not just the top of the rod sticking thru...learned the tubes are normal running at 220 F....(they get hot same as an incandescent light bulb does)...learned film resistors have better tolerances than carbon ones....but carbon resistors are fine...pilot lamp out will wreck the 35z5 rectifier tube ....Variacs fine to bring it up slowly but unless u bring it up to 115v it won't brighten the pilot lamp & function the circuits correctly....and to run the radio at 115 V.is better. Voltage like mine is 123 volts if you can buy something to keep it down do it .....i learned to ohm out all the coils thru the radio including transformers and speaker and loop antenna etc. experienced ordering capacitors and resistors from just Radios site....experienced reading a domino mica capacitor (took me a long while and research)....learned that a paper cap is two rolled foils with wax covered paper rolled in between called the dielectric and when it take's on moisture after 80 years, shorts out....learned about the floating ground term when they say its floating above 150k they mean there is a resistor in between the floating ground lug and the chassis.....learned why the outside antenna terminal has a R & C filter it keeps dc static electricity out of the RF (radio frequency) path coming into the radio,
Learned, difference's between ac household current @ 60 repeat frequencies in 1 second to audio at 20 to 20,000 and IF intermediate frequency 455,000 repeats a second and radio stations 1360 khz explain hertz = 1 repeat per second khz = k=1,000 so khz 1,000 repeats per second is the frequency.... frequency means any thing repeated it does not have to be the house AC ....Learned tap on the grid plate with an insulated screw driver while the radio is silent but turned up a little in volume. ...learned the radio to radio oscillator test.
