Meteorologists anticipate a low-pressure area forming over the southwest Bay of Bengal by May 22, 2024, moving northeastward and intensifying into a depression over central Bay of Bengal by May 24, 2024. Expected adverse conditions include heavy rainfall, especially over North Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal on May 24th and 25th, 2024. Squally winds, reaching 40-50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph, will affect the central Bay of Bengal from May 23rd, extending to the North Bay of Bengal on May 24th with increased speeds of 50-60 kmph, gusting to 70 kmph. Sea conditions will be rough to very rough, cautioning fishermen to avoid venturing into these areas.
