STOP PRACTICING WITH VIBRATO 😤

It’s nothing personal classical strings players, it’s just that I see too many bowed instruments players applying vibrato to any exercise they do, even scales.

The first problem I have with that is that when you get used to constantly apply vibrato as you play, you do not train your ears and fingers to reach the right position of a note to create ideal intonation.

Secondly, vibrato is like a sweet sauce - you put some of it in the right spots and it could really take your dish to the next level.

You put too much of it? Your dish will just be sticky and lose its fine flavors 🍜

I encourage you to tame your urge to vibrate, learn how to control the width and speed of your vibrato and definitely when you practice playing scales or arpeggios, practice them without vibrato at all.

Born in 1993, Ashano started playing violin when he was six years old, later taking up the guitar at age 13. At the time, his guitar teachers were the influencers who exposed Omer to the styles of Blues, Rock n’ Roll and Jazz as well as the ideas and possibilities surrounding improvisation. It was from this exposure that Omer started experimenting with this new knowledge and adapting it for the violin.
