I have gotten a lot of questions on how I taught Fausto to mark in scentwork. This video was filmed the winter 2015, but I have only just gotten around to editing it. I usually film most of our sessions so that I can go through them and learn from my mistakes. I was terrible at teaching the freeze, so here is a longer video of the session where I finally figured out how to show him what I wanted without reinforcing the wrong behaviours. It really was mutual problem solving for both of us, me trying to figure out how to communicate it to him, and him trying to figure out what I wanted. This is one of the reasons I like teaching precision obedience so much, it really challenges you to be ridiculously clear in your communication and brings so much awareness to the effect of reward placement and delivery on how the behaviour is performed.
