About the Writer: Syed Mujtaba Ali

Syed Mujtaba Ali was born in 13 September, 1904. He was a Bengali author, journalist, traveller, academic, scholar and linguist. Rabindranath Tagore while visiting Sylhet in 1919, Mujtaba Ali met Tagore who had great influence on Mujtaba Ali's writings. Syed Mujtaba Ali joined the Indian freedom struggle and left his school in Sylhet in 1921. In the same year he went to Visva-Bharati University in Santiniketan and graduated in 1926 with B.A. degree. Important of mention- Syed Mujtaba Ali was among the first graduates of the Visva-Bharati. He also studied in Aligarh Muslim University for a short period. After that he moved to Kabul to work in the education department as a professor. Syed Mujtaba Ali received Wilhelm Humboldt scholarship and went to Germany. He studied at the universities in Berlin and later in Bonn. In the year on 1932 Syed Mujtaba Ali earned his PhD from the University of Bonn. Syed Mujtaba Ali died in 11 February 1974.
