He got rid of the Czar (Tsar) and promised people ‘Bread, Land and Peace.’ In 1918, the Bolshevik Government and Central Powers signed a treaty called ‘Brest-Litovsk’ after Brest-Litovsk in the German-occupied Belarus. (This ended Russia’s participation in World War One.)

Known for: Being a Georgian Revolutionary and Soviet Political Leader who Governed the Soviet Union from 1922-1953. He held power as General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Soviet Union. During World War Two, Stalin’s Son - Yakov Stalin - was captured by the Germans and sent to a Concentration Camp. Stalin replied with: “I don’t have a Son captured in Germany.”
Yakov died in 1943 after committing suicide. People presumed Stalin had abandoned his Son but there is evidence Stalin sent out two secret rescue attempts in 1942.

Also known as: Leon Trotsky

Years alive: 1879-1940

Known for: Being a Ukrainian-Russian Marxist Revolutionary, Political Theorist and Politician. Ideologically a Communist, he developed a variant of Marxism which has become known as Trotskyism. Trotsky had been exiled into Norway, Denmark and France after disagreements with Stalin. He then went to Mexico City, Capital of Mexico, where he was assassinated in 1940 by an assassin sent by the Kremlin.
