How High Voltage Transmission Lines Save Tons of Money | Power Distribution Part 2 | Doc Physics

I have found this topic to be HUGELY confusing to students. After watching this video, I want you to do a calculation - assume that the state of New York uses 2 x 10^9 kWh of electricity in a year and that 10% of that is wasted in distribution. Further assuming that they pay $0.15 per kWh, how much money would they save by doubling all their distribution voltages? Go. Answer in the comments.

Note that it's not that easy - ultimately, corona discharge and general danger prevent increasing distribution voltages.
