Italy By motorcycle - Rome to Florence

Italia - Part 1.1 🇮🇹

My short but intensely lived trip in Europe started in Rome. I arrived on Sunday, August 4th, at 8 in the morning and went directly to pick up my motorcycle rental: a BMW F800GS. An Italian man with gold jewelry, many rings, and a cigarette in hand greeted me at the garage. Despite the language barrier, we managed to sort out the paperwork in a mix of Italian and Spanish. A few signatures and photocopies later, I had the keys to the motorcycle, a helmet, and a pair of gloves.

I took my time to install my new GoPro attachment for a 3rd-person perspective and off I went into the streets of Rome. I stopped by the Colosseum for breakfast and coffee. Before heading to Florence, I chose to ride around Rome without GPS to absorb as much of the city as possible in the least amount of time.

The highway was hot and speedy, but I opted for the countryside on the last stretch before arriving in Florence. I rode through villages and vineyards, over rivers, and past hidden lodges. I finally arrived at Ostello Bigallo. After a shower, a nap, and an 8-euro pasta time with wine, I watched a no-context debate between Gen Z travelers choosing between fish soup or chicken fillet. I decided it was time for sleep as I had a longer and time-sensitive motorcycle ride to Milan the next day.
