However, Miguna's alliance shifted and he became a critic of the government. In a controversial move, he participated in an oath-taking ceremony for an opposition leader. This led to his deportation to Canada, despite being a Kenyan citizen, and sparked debate about free speech in Kenya. Miguna remains a vocal critic of the government from Canada and seeks to return home, but the situation is unresolved.
