Soviet Invasion of Czechoslovakia - Footage of Prague Spring's Bloody End (1968)

Описание к видео Soviet Invasion of Czechoslovakia - Footage of Prague Spring's Bloody End (1968)

On 23 August 1968, ITN's Richard Lindley reported from Bratislava on the ongoing Soviet-led invasion of Czechoslovakia. Three days before Lindley recorded his report, some 500,000 Warsaw Pact troops entered the country in response to the so-called Prague Spring. Since February, Czechoslovakia had attempted to move away from the strictures of Soviet rule and embrace Alexander Dubček's action plan of 'Socialism with a human face'. However following the Soviet invasion, Dubček was deposed and the pro-Soviet, Gustáv Husák, installed as First Secretary of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia.
