I go out for yearly maintenance on a Kohler generator. I find the generator locked out on an OC Overcrank fault. I reset the fault and the generator cranks for a bit and then starts. I decide since this has happened a few times in the past to inspect the gas line for restrictions. It turns out the gas shut off valves are the restrictive type that shouldn't be used on a generator. The Gas shut off valve creates a pressure drop. You can see it drops to almost 3 in.w.c. on start with the old valve. I put in full flow ball valves to use as a gs shut off valve. There it only drops the gas pressure to 5 in. w.c. on start.
