The correct age to repair a cleft lip and cleft palate. These are all congenital conditions which needs to be addressed at the earliest. So cleft lip is the first which needs to be addressed. It needs to be addressed soon after birth but there is risk of anesthesia when it is operated early. So we keep an age of 10 weeks or 3 months where the baby gains a weight of 5 kgs. If it gains early, then cleft lip can be treated at an earlier date but at an average a date it is done around 3 months or 10 weeks is the earliest stage you can operate a cleft lip baby and cleft palate because it can disturb the bony growth of the face, hence it is addressed at a later stage maybe a period of 10 months is considered as ideal for a cleft palate repair.
