How do you take a 212,000-word pattern and cut it down to a tight 90,000 words? You need a map.

In this session, Ciara (CeCe) returns to the group to tackle a massive rewrite of her "Pirates of the Caribbean meets Indiana Jones" Romantasy. To do this, she is using the Continuity and Value Delivery Spreadsheet—a tool designed to track the plot, the character arc, and the "Bonus" across every single chapter.
The group reviews the first four chapters of her outline, diagnosing pacing issues with the "Inciting Incident" and debating where to reveal the protagonist's secret magic. But the biggest hurdle is the "Bonus." Ciara wants to include Rivals-to-Lovers Romance, a complex Magic System, and Archaeology adventures. Adam warns that trying to serve chocolate cake, ice cream, and apple pie all at once will leave the reader sick—and the word count bloated.
