The Indian die and mould industry has witnessed a double digit growth till 2013. However, due to the economic slump, the growth rate has come down. We hope that with the existing potential in this industry, we will be able to face the shortage of capacity and will be able to add the required equipments, technologies and manpower, said PN Surendranath, Executive Director, TAGMA-India.
Speaking to MMTonline.in at the 9th Die & Mould 2014 India International Exhibition organized by Tool and Gauge Manufacturers Association -- India (TAGMA-India), held at the Bombay Exhibition Center in Mumbai during April 17-20, 2014 Surendranath noted, "And post the inspiring speech by Dr A P J Abdul Kalam in the opening ceremony of the trade show, we are confident that the target of Rs. 35,000 crore production by 2020 and be a surplus nation with exporting as well, could be met with the support and growth of this industry as we have seen the double digit growth of up to 20% in the previous decade. This goal of Rs. 35,000 crore attainable by 2020 should be made possible."
TAGMA- India was founded in 1990 for the promotion of die and mould industry in India. In the year 1998, it started with the series of die mould exhibitions. The growth of Indian die and mould industry and the significance of the trade exhibition reflect from the fact that the 9th edition is spread across 20,000 M2 as compared to 1,000 M2 in 1998.
