Making a Pottery Wheel Thrown Jar — Lid & Body (Part 1)

Описание к видео Making a Pottery Wheel Thrown Jar — Lid & Body (Part 1)

This is part one of a three part series that demonstrates the throwing, trimming, glazing and firing of a large, stoneware lidded jar. I discuss centering large lumps of clay, how to pull up the walls and refine a thrown vessel on the potter's wheel. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch! ⏱ • Timecodes:
0:00 - Introduction
0:34 - Weighing and wedging the clay (approximately 3.5kg)
2:23 - Centring the mass of clay
6:05 - Pulling up the walls
11:22 - Refining the thrown shape
12:20 - Creating the gallery for the lid
13:35 - Throwing the lid

*It's worth noting! That you won't get the same results as I do if you're firing in oxidation. The reduction firing really helps with this process.

*I throw using both a Rohde HMT 500 & 600 potter's wheel and fire using Rohde kilns too, the electric is a TE-200 and the gas kiln is a KG-340.
