This video is from the Sage-sponsored “Banned Books from the Big Chair” booth in support of the freedom to read at the American Library Association’s 2025 Annual Conference. Seated on an oversized chair over 200 attendees and authors were videotaped and photographed as they shared reasons why books should never be banned. Sage and the Office of Intellectual Freedom have long collaborated to bring awareness to Banned Books Week, and to support the freedom to read. The American Library Association is a leading source of information and support for the library and librarian community.

This year has never been more important to bring awareness to the fight against banning books. With increasing legislation suppressing access to books and learning materials in libraries, schools, and universities, it is more important than ever to join forces in the fight against banning books.
