Kay Adams Reacts to Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs Breaking Bills' Hearts AGAIN in Buffalo

Home/Road…it doesn’t matter for Patrick Mahomes. He and the Chiefs beat the Bills for the 3rd straight time in the playoffs…and has KC headed to a *SIXTH* straight AFC Championship game. And this to me is the most impressive run of them all for patrick given what’s gone on around him this year.

With the miscues the Chiefs have had at receiver, this was the toughest regular season Mahomes has had as a pro. The fewest wins of his career, lowest passer rating, most turnovers – and he’s just completely adjusted and turned it on for these playoffs. I talked about Mahomes’ ability to manage the game last week against the Dolphins – and he kept it going last night. This was the first time this ENTIRE SEASON that Mahomes went back-to-back games without a turnover…

And while he didn’t throw for 400 yards and 5 touchdowns like we’ve seen in the past…this is as EFFICIENT as we’ve seen him – and it’s working. He’s taking what the defense is giving him…Andy is leaning on the run game more…this is how you adapt to not having the group of receivers you’re used to. And while it may seem like common sense…we’ve seen plenty of QBs – even great ones – that have let their egos get in the way and try to be superman in these situations. It takes something special to know how to reign it in when you’re as talented as Patrick is.

But it wasn’t all Patrick last night either. Isiah Pacheco put up 111 total yards and a score on 6-and-a-half yards per carry…and his ability to complete slam the door on the Bills after the missed field goal – when everyone knew the Chiefs were running the ball – was massive.

And maybe most importantly out of all of this…Travis Kelce was peak Travis Kelce last night – heart hands and all. He scored 2 touchdowns – after punching in just 5 all regular season long – and was the game’s leading receiver with 75 yards. His ability to play like this could be the difference maker next week against Baltimore who may have their star TE back!

On the Bills’ side…this is soul crushing. This marks Buffalo’s 3rd-straight divisional round exit…and the 3rd time in 4 years that they’ve been eliminated at the hands of the Chiefs. Josh Allen was asked after the game if this one hurts more with it coming at home…and I feel for him having to sit there and answer this

At home, chiefs were off all year, you have more of a balanced attack than ever. If not now, when?…and I don’t know what the answer is. Maybe they’re just unlucky. Timing might suck… they finally built this team at the same time the Chiefs got Mahomes and the Bengals got Joe Burrow. Or maybe they just need to keep chipping away and it will happen eventually. I mean, Peyton Manning didn’t get to or win one until his 8th year in the league – at 30 years old. Right now it’s hard to find a silver lining…but if there’s one QB that I think can guide his team through the darkest of times – it really is Josh Allen.
