Making this boatmobile is literally a childhood dream come true, and driving it to Shell City was the cherry on top. I've honestly wanted to visit that location for years.

DISCLAIMER: Just so you know, even though it probably looks like just one day, we actually shot the driving portion of this video over a couple days. We originally filmed the whole test drive to shell city in one day, but due to some issues, a lot of shots in the middle of the day either got missed or were poorly recorded.

So, after looking at the footage, knowing I had to make the video a single sequence ending at Shell City, my options were: 1. put out a bad video (which I didn’t want to do), 2. re-shoot the whole test drive (which wouldn’t have been as authentic IMO, but it would have been a single day), or 3. re-shoot a couple replacement scenes for the middle of the day and keep as much as I could from the original test drive (which would mean every scene and reaction could stay 100% authentic, but it’d be a little less accurate).

So, given my options, I picked #3 - replace the scenes that got missed, and add them to our original day of driving. That’s the scene at Venice Beach and at the Hollywood Sign. Obviously, neither of these scenes were scripted - they’re still 100% real - but they were filmed separately. The rest is from the original test drive. It was honestly much more work to do it this way, but it felt like the best way to give you an authentic boatmobile-driving experience. I’m super proud of how it turned out - I really wanted the vibe to land somewhere between “ferris bueller’s day off” and “top gear”, and I think we got there!

This is the first time I’ve had to do this, so I’d also like to hear what you think - given the options, do you think I made the right choice? Please let me know!

PS: Fun fact, I'm not sure if this is the case, but I THINK this is also the first ever body swap on a go-4 interceptor, which is pretty dang cool!
