Additional ramble bits about this AU for those interested:

This would essentially be what I imagine the beta of this show would be like. The cast is aged up; Lucia (beta Luz) being seventeen, Paulina (Beta Willow) and Amelia (Beta Amity) being eighteen, William (Beta Hunter) being nineteen, and Gus being fifteen. It would also be a lot darker and be less fun and whimsical like the original show.

Instead of landing in the demon realm and deciding to stay to have a shot at being a witch, Lucia ends up stuck in the demon realm by complete accident and the point of the AU would originally be centered around her trying to get back. This universe would be a lot darker in that Lucia wouldn't have Eda and King to lean on for help; rather she is alone in this strange realm and is forced to fight for her own survival. She manages to find a shack to take up camp in and learn the glyphs on her own, but in the process she becomes jaded and scarred.

Eventually she manages to connect with the rest of the cast, including dating Amelia, and they fight Belos like in the original series. But rather than William's abuse being only hinted at vaguely, it would be a lot more prominent and blatant. Sort of like an edgy retelling, but hopefully not too cringey to watch.
