$10 Trad Rack Challenge (sketchy!)

You either die with honor or you live long enough to see yourself make a cringe YouTube video.

But a wise T-shirt once said, "I may be cringe, but I am free."

Six years ago I was a broke and injured gym climber with a love for the outdoors. With no money for a rope and no free guides around, I had to entertain myself with something all climbers are familiar with, selective suffering. This realized itself in the form of a survival challenge inspired by my old favorite channel, Wrangler Star. I went to my local dollar tree and spent money I didn't have on 10 items that I thought would sustain me in the wilderness for 24 hours. I decided I could do a similar challenge but more tailored to climbing. And definitely not make it 24 hours long! The $10 trad rack idea was born and I was really surprised on what I was able to find and use.

Looking back I definitely was too much of a purist, I think using climbing rated carabiners would have been fair and more realistic. It also would've given me more room in the budget to buy a can of beans for the wide parts. Maybe next time!

In all seriousness, this video isn't serious, but climbing is! So be careful and only use gear you can trust and never fall!
