Why aren't Europe and Africa connected by a bridge? You see, the Strait of Gibraltar, separating Spain and Morocco, represents the place where Europe and Africa are the closest. Only 14.3 kilometers separate the two, and a bridge would increase connectivity between the two continents. In fact, there are dozens of bridges in the world longer than 14 kilometers, one example being the Crimean Bridge over the Kerch Strait. However, there is still no bridge between Spain and Morocco. The problem is that the sea depth is over 900 meters in this area, making it impossible for bridge pillars to be supported. Another possibility to link the two would be to create an undersea tunnel like the one between France and England, but due to the rocky soil beneath the Strait of Gibraltar, this is also impossible.
