Описание к видео Barmer to Rishikesh by Train | Part 2 | Delayed by The Great North Indian Fog | Indian Railways

After reaching the border of Punjab from Rajasthan well ahead of schedule, the train gets delayed stuck in dense fog and poor controlling. It was many hours late by the time it reached Rishikesh on the foothills of the Himalayas.

Train : 14888 Barmer - Rishikesh Express
Loco : Tughlakabad (DLTB) WAP4 #22656

The train was hauled by BGKT WDP4 #20080 from Barmer to Bhatinda Jn. The train underwent a loco change & rake reversal at Bhatinda Jn.

Disclaimer : This video was recorded in December 2022 and is not the latest doubling or electrification update in this route.

I went to sleep as the train departed Suratgarh Jn almost on time. When I woke up in the morning, the train was at Rajpura Jn, running at least 3 hours behind schedule. The fog was quite dense, and visibility was extremely poor.

The shabby run continued till Ambala Cantt, where dawn eventually happened. There was no respite from the fog, as the train reached Yamunanagar delayed by 3 hours 30 minutes. As the fog slowly receded post Yamuna Nagar, the section controlling took over. From getting overtaken by a freight train, to waiting outside Saharanpur for Shatabdi to undergo a loco reversal, the train was exceptionally screwed.

My co-passenger who got ready at 6 AM to alight at Saharanpur, finally managed to alight at 10:45 AM, delayed by 5 full hours. Thanks to some slack in the route post Saharanpur, and trailing a Shatabdi, the train managed to reach Haridwar late by 4 hours 35 minutes, and Rishikesh late by 4 hours 10 minutes.

This is one of the few trains that goes to Rishikesh instead of Yog Nagari Rishikesh, which is the other railway station in the city. While RKSH is a terminus, YNRK will be on the route to Gangotri when the Chardham Railway opens in a few years.
