Tori Kelly on Cheat Days, Curly Hair and Androgyny in Style Files

Tori Kelly is a big proponent of going au naturel when it comes to her hair. She’s got beautiful, crazy curls and she tells us she’s been wearing it big and bold since she was in sixth grade, at the urging of her mother on school picture day.
Kelly recounts the story of that morning her mom gave her a diffuser, products and some instructions. It was the point of no return for her hair.
“I was so nervous,” Kelly says. “And I got so many compliments on it that day! Ever since then I’m just like, ‘I’m just gonna see how this goes.’ It’s funny because it’s become my main accessory, my hair. The things we’re insecure about can turn into one of the cool things about us.”
