This is when Kai finally wakes up from a cryogenic state from a machine he was placed in. The world he thought was real and was nothing but perfect to him was nothing but a lie. It was a world Nyarlethotep created using one person's mind as a mirror for what the world use to be. When Kai takes a step outside and sees the real world for the first time there is barely any life left, with people who have turned into black figures. Upon seeing this he runs back into the lab where Nyarlethotep explains everything. The fog is almost like an acid eating up buildings and infrastructures. It is also extremely poisonous turning any normal person into a disturbing creature. This is caused by a weak state of mind, thus leading a normal person into killing themselves, or to becoming a shadow. The only the people who can survive in the fog are people who have unlocked their own personas. That was the main goal of Nyarlethotep, creating a fabricated reality to strengthen the group for the real world. Conner also was apart of this, attacking your team only to improve your chances of survival. However, this world that Kai sees brings him to tears. The dead bodies that he sees on the ground, with the buildings he once knew where so strong and tall, look lifeless. The only thing he sees in the distance is what appears to be a black egg in the middle of the sky, with something about to emerge.
