Karnala Fort which is also famously called as Funnel Hill is a hill fort in Raigad district, Maharashtra, India, about 10 km from Panvel city. Currently it is a protected place lying within the Karnala Bird Sanctuary.

Here are some of the fun facts related to Karnala fort:

FunFact #1: It is paradise for nature lover. It has everything a nature lover needs, a bird sanctuary, boards with complete details of flora and fauna and a plastic free environment. It is a very clean and must visit area for 1 day relax outside the hustle bustle of city.

FunFact #2: The whole trek is covered with very clear directions and sign board. It's usually very rare when you for trek and you find clear signboard. The trek has beautiful terrain with medium level difficulty and high slope.

FunFact #3: The fort was constructed before 1400, under Devagiri Yadavs(1248–1318) and the Tughlaq rulers (1318–1347), Karnala was the capital of the north Konkan districts of their respective empires.
Shivaji Maharaj also conquered it from the Mughals in 1670. Today, the ruins of the fort are a popular destination for hiking and tourism

FunFact #4: Karnala fort actually consists of two forts one at a higher level and other lower. At the centre of the higher level is a 125 feet high basalt pillar. It is also called Pandu's tower. This structure was used as watchtower when the fort was occupied however now it is in a ruined condition
