2015 marks the 6th time Team Proton R3 has participated in the gruelling Sepang 1000 KM race. This year was not to be for the team as we struggled with problems that threatened early retirement. With great teamwork and perseverance, the team managed to keep both cars going and finish the race with the Iriz coming in at 5th and setting a new lap record.

This year also marks the debut of a totally new race car for the team, the Proton Iriz R3 Malaysian Touring Car, running a naturally aspirated Campro 1600cc engine. Piloted by Tengku Djan Ley and Syafiq Ali. The Suprima S R3 piloted by Fariqe Hairuman and James Veerapen finished a credible 11th after facing major electrical issues.
