HIDDEN GEM: FENQIHU has deep history & great food

Fenqihu has a very interesting history tied to railroad development in Taiwan. A surprising number of foods are very unique to Fenqihu, and we enjoyed them all! We also hiked the nearby Logging Trail (more railroad ties!). From bento boxes to train cakes to famous donuts, you don't want to miss Fenqihu!

In Fenqihu, Taiwan, the town's history is rooted in trains and the logging industry. The town is known for its food, including delicious donuts and rice cakes. They also have famous Bento boxes, which were traditionally eaten by loggers passing through. The town is picturesque, with 7-Elevens, alleyways, and ponds to explore. We hiked along the Logger's Trail, a historic path used for hauling lumber. The trail was filled with stairs (so many stairs!) and led to a beautiful bamboo grove. Train cakes were one of the most unique things we ate while in Fenqihu!
