In this video, I will show how to catch hickory shad. The spring shad run is when the shad fishing is hot. I'm fishing for Hickory Shad in Maryland in this video. The 2023 Maryland Hickory Shad run is on fire!! It is off to a great start this year, as the hickory shad are stacked in the creeks, spawning. The Shad fishing is at its best right now! I was jigging small shad darts and they were biting nonstop!! The herring are starting to run too, they were mixed in with the hickory shad. You can catch them on shad spoons and shad darts.
