Albany is a port city located 418km southeast of Perth, Western Australia. The city centre is at the northern edge of Princess Royal Harbour, which is part of King George Sound. Bounded by Mount Clarence to the east and Mount Melville to the west the city is the oldest colonial settlement in Western Australia. Albany predates both Perth and Fremantle by over two years.Founded in 1826. The town has a role in the ANZAC legend, being the last port of call for troopships departing Australia in the First World War. The National Anzac Centre was opened on 2 November 2014 to commemorate 100 years since the first ANZAC troupes departed from King George Sound.
