The Cornish pasty, or paste as it came to be known in Mexico, was adopted as a local delicacy. Real del Monte's cobbled streets are lined with red-tiled bakeries that emanate the aroma of freshly baked pasties

Real del Monte (also referred to as Mineral del Monte)is a town in the State of Hidalgo, Mexico, with a population of 15,000 inhabitants, and lies 12 km. to the north of Pachuca de Soto. The town sits in the middle of a mountainous and forested zone, and with a colonial Spanish and Cornish influence in architecture, plus its natural scenery, is one of the most famous tourist destinations around Pachuca and Mexico City. Recently it was awarded a Pueblo Mágico, reinforcing its status as one of the most beautiful towns in the country.
