This presentation will cover an eclectic and quirky history of transit
in Toronto. Starting with the earliest history of transit for hire in
Toronto, we'll also explore the role that women have played in the
city's transportation system, as well as take a look at how street
transit has also interacted with a growing number of cars on the roads.
The presentation will conclude with a few of the more "secret" aspects
of Toronto's transit. How many of these have you heard of? The
presentation will last for about 45 minutes and there will be time for
questions and comments after.

Presenter Information:
Richard Fiennes-Clinton was born in Toronto, and has been involved with
local Toronto history for over 25 years. He has spoken to many different
historical societies over the years. He frequently contributes to local
television, radio and print media related to the history of the city. He
is also a multifaceted speaker, giving walking tours and illustrated
talks on a variety of Toronto’s past. Notably, he also operates Muddy
York Walking Tours, and is the author of a book called “Muddy York – A
History of Toronto Until 1834”.
