Before spreading their wings and taking to the big blue sky, butterflies have to undergo the long and arduous process of emerging from their chrysalis. In a way, Dr. Quan Nguyen's journey is no different — it is a very long one with countless hardships along the way.

In his TEDx talk, Dr. Quan Nguyen gives us a profound insight into the stages of his "butterfly life cycle", and how each of these boils down to one factor that has made him the happy and respected educator he is today: learning to be grateful. Dr. Nguyen Hai Quan humbly contributes to his community growth through his career as an educator. For over 19 years, he has been working in Can Tho University where he has inspired and empowered generations of students in both learning languages and changing themselves to become better citizens. He is the founder of Gia Viet
English Language School where he has been acting as the Director of Studies and International Relations.

He is also the founder of the Mekong TESOL Organisation and initiates the International Conferences and English Debating Contest for the English teacher and learner community in the Mekong Delta. Alongside with these commitments, he has been working as a freelance teacher trainer for National Geographic and Cengage Publisher and acting as a member of Board of Advisor for AIESEC in Can Tho.
