Shn Shn: Wavelength @ St. Anne’s Parish Hall

One of our favourite things to do at Wavelength is to welcome people into new or under-utilized spaces for shows. Our friends at Long Winter and the Images Festival have hosted events at St. Anne’s Parish Hall before, but for many people, tonight marked their first time visiting this wondrous space. Built in 1912 to support the main St. Anne’s Anglican Church property located behind it, the Parish Hall features high ceilings, warm acoustics and a stunning domed stage. The building’s future is currently uncertain, so we felt blessed to host this special occasion, the album release for Montreal atmospheric, electronic artist Tess Roby’s Ideas of Space.

You could hear a drink ticket drop when multi-talented Toronto artist Shn Shn took the stage before the attentive, assembled crowd. Their glittering, transportive ambient pop was absolutely captivating, their projected visuals on the dome above making them float in a nebula of abstract colour and shape. As an experience, it was indeed divine.
