Before this conversation, Ram ji appointed Lakshman ji as the gatekeeper. Meanwhile, the great sage Durvasa came to Ayodhya and expressed his desire to Lakshman to meet Lord Shri Ram. But Lakshman refused, and sage Durvasa got angry, and in anger he talked about incinerating the entire Ayodhya. Due to this Lakshman was in a dilemma. But he went inside to save Ayodhya without caring for his life, and became a participant in the death penalty. After which Lakshman ji, following the orders of Ram ji, took water samadhi and sacrificed his life.
