Greetings, in this Unity tutorial we shall be looking at how to create a custom editor button. We will then show you how to add functionality to this editor button. But you may be wondering what an editor button is. Well simply put, a Unity editor button is a button that appears in the inspector or the Unity IDE. You know how Unity has loads of features in their IDE. Well you can make your own! When you get the hang of creating editor buttons and other editor scripts, you can automate and save a lot of time for things the Unity engine might not have for you.

I use editor scripts in my Unity day job and it is amazing. Some examples of editor scripts I have made include: A prefab placer for easy level creation, a dialogue speaking icon swapper and a terrain generator.

Now we won't be covering anything that advance in this Unity editor script tutorial. In this Unity tutorial we shall only be covering how to create an editor button.
