Churchill Fellows Weekend, held March 25, 2018, in the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury included the induction of four prominent leaders into the Association of Churchill Fellows and the delivery of the 2018 Enid and R. Crosby Kemper Lecture by His Excellency Ron Dermer, Israel’s Ambassador to the U.S., who spoke on “Churchill and Israel.”

Ron Dermer is an American-born Israeli diplomat, who has served as the Israeli Ambassador to the United States since October 2013. He was born and raised in Miami Beach, Florida, but moved to Israel in 1996. He previously served as Israel’s economic envoy to the United States from 2005 to 2008, a position requiring him to give up his American citizenship. He is among the most influential advisors to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The new inductees were Morton “Mort” Harris, a former World War II bomber pilot and the co-founder of American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings Inc. in Detroit; William Clark Durant III, president of the New Common School Foundation and co-founder of the Cornerstone Schools in Detroit; Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Ron Dermer; distinguished attorney Neal F. Perryman of the Lewis-Rice law firm in St. Louis; and prominent businessman and former U.S. Ambassador to Belgium Sam Fox, also of St. Louis, Missouri.

The induction ceremony included comments by Westminster College President Dr. Fletcher Lamkin; Missouri Governor Eric R. Greitens; Acting Senior Fellow Jean-Paul Montupet; and, Timothy Riley, the Sandra L. and Monroe Trout Director and Chief Curator of the National Churchill Museum.

The Enid and R. Crosby Kemper Lectureship at America's National Churchill Museum was established in 1979 by a grant from the Enid and R. Crosby Kemper Foundation of Kansas City, Missouri. It is intended to provide for lectures by authorities on history, Winston Churchill, and his legacy in today's world.
