After reviewing a whole lot of footage over the years there seems to be 3 Technical Keys to Elite Discus Performance:
1. Stretch : That is "posture". A big chest, locked low back, arms pulled to the sides, and shoulder and hip line forming an X if looked at from a bird's eye view..
2. Right foot turning : The right foot/heel must continually turn throughout the throw and finish.
3. Orbit : the discus must have a good high orbit through the throw. This being the discus has a low and a high point, the high point is shoulder or head height coming into 3 and Butt level low point out of the back and just before release.
