On this day of our Kumaon trip, we finally ventured out on a hike to Panchachuli zero point.
From our homestay In Dantu Village, the distance to zero point was about 14-16 Kms.
Hiking trail is really beautiful with a mix of Deodar forests, meadows full of flowers, water streams and small glacial lakes.
Even I you are moderately fit, you can attempt this hike without any major Issues. Just ensure you have the right gear and shoes. Also, make sure that you take drinking water with you.

This hike was unguided and you can easily do it on your own. Just make sure not to wander around random trails and avoid going towards the edges of the cliff as it constantly keeps falling in the deep gorge (Cracks will be visible)

In this video you’ll witness the grandeur of this gigantic mountain range and how it’s surrounded by massive glaciers and waterfalls. Such an exclusive panoramic view gets forever etched in your memory.

For those who don’t know about Panchachuli mountain range in Himalayas here are some quick facts from Wikipedia:

Panchachuli (पंचाचुली) peaks are a group of five snow-capped Himalayan peaks lying at the end of the eastern Kumaon region, near the Dugtu village in Darma valley. The peaks have altitudes ranging from 6,334 metres (20,781 ft) to 6,904 metres (22,651 ft). They form the watershed between the Gori and the Darmaganga valleys. Panchachuli is also located on the Gori Ganga-Lassar Yankti divide. The group lies 138 km (86 mi) from Pithoragarh.
