MOBILE, Ala (WPMI) The drama, theatrics, and fun continues after Mardi Gras. More than 4,000 patrons will flood the Port City for the Annual Southeastern Theatre Conference.Its been said to be the largest theatre conference in the nation, and experts estimate it will bring in millions of dollars. Actors, professional company representatives, design and technical professionals, theatre educators, students, from high schools and universities, and more will take part. Registration began Wednesday, and the conference will take place at the Arthur R. Outlaw Mobile Convention Center, Mobile Civic Center and the Saenger Theatre. We celebrate theatre and all its forms from professional to secondary, said SETC Program Associate Quiana Clark Roland. It's also a great place for people to get jobs or find employees.It is also a place for students to get scholarships. That is what Maryland native Aimee Bonnet is hoping for. I'll be doing the college auditions to transfer. Hopefully Ill get picked up, said Bonnet. For many, it is their first time in Mobile. They are not only bringing the drama, but the cash. We don't have anything to do today until 7 tonight. We're going to go around and find things. Were going to go to the museum. We're going to go get food, said visitor Katherine Carins. Yes definitely shopping.Downtown businesses posted welcome signs to encourage patrons to come inside. Convention officials said all the downtown hotels are fully booked.
