PM Modi, Iranian President Pezeshkian hold bilateral meeting amid West Asia crisis

PM Modi held a bilateral meeting with newly elected Iranian President on the sidelines of BRICS Summit on October 22. PM Modi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met for the first time after he took over as President of Iran in July this year. During the meeting, both leaders discussed the ongoing situation in West Asia while PM Modi said, “India always wants peace”. They also discussed a range of topics including the Chabahar port, people-to-people contacts, situation in Gaza, stability & security in Afghanistan and Ukraine conflict. PM Modi last met with Iranian President Raisi at the 2023 BRICS Summit in South Africa.
