As librarians and educators we live and work in interesting and complicated times. How are we preparing ourselves and helping others to cope with the challenges and changes coming to our lives? On 19-20 November 2020, the IFLA SET (Section on Education and Training) organized a 2-day webinar. Topics included social media, fake news, access to information, information service in the time of COVID-19, global internships, and the development of competencies for librarians. Presenters from around the world shared their ideas and wonders.

On 1st day (19 November) SET presented three sessions moderated by Dr. Kendra Albright (USA):
Session 1 – "Youth access to social media in Libraryand Information Science in Kuwait and Taiwan" by Hanadi Buarki, Hui-Yun Sung
Session 2 –  "AllWork and All Play. Sustainable Development Awareness Tools for Librarians" by RaphaëlleBats, Camille Delaune, Mathilde Gaffet, LaurePapon-Vidal
Session 3 – "From checklists to critical thinking: Updating information analysis in the age of fake news" by Julie Biando Edwards

The Section focuses on education and training for library and information science professionals based on research and professional practice. It serves library and information science educators, practitioners, and managers with training responsibilities. Appropriately educated, adequately trained, continually learning professionals are a requirement for effective and efficient information services. Education and training for library and information services concerns all IFLA's Divisions and requires cooperation with them and other international and inter-regional associations which have a related mission. Of special interest to the Section is the state of library and information science education and training in developing countries.
