Inset Valleys: The Key to Unlocking the Red River Valley Story

Описание к видео Inset Valleys: The Key to Unlocking the Red River Valley Story

The Red River Valley is fed by numerous rivers that cut into the bordering Lake Agassiz beach ridges. Where these rivers enter the Red River Valley, inset valleys were created that offered ready access to water, timber, shade vegetation, and till resources. These inset valleys are oases and befitting the massed resources, reveal an unparalleled concentration of archaeological sites within a relatively small area, spanning most of the time periods known for the Valley. A multi-year, multi-disciplinary program conducted at the Regional Science Center of Minnesota State University Moorhead has documented the significance of an inset valley along the Buffalo River. Data from other inset valleys are also highlighted.
