“When we talk about a facelift, a lot of people think it only addresses the face, and I understand why. The name is a bit misleading. But in reality, a properly performed facelift almost always includes the neck as well.

The reason is simple: the face and neck age together. If we only lift the face and leave the neck untouched, the results don’t look balanced, and they certainly won’t last as long.

During a facelift, we’re not just tightening skin. We’re repositioning the deeper structures—what we call the SMAS layer, which is the connective tissue under the skin. We lift and secure that foundation both in the mid-face and lower face, and we extend that lift down through the neck. That’s how we achieve a natural-looking, long-lasting result.

In fact, many of the most dramatic improvements you’ll see from a facelift come from what we do in the neck area, removing or tightening fat under the chin, addressing the vertical neck bands, and recontouring the jawline.

So even though the procedure is called a facelift, you can think of it as a face and neck lift. They work together as one aesthetic unit, and that’s how we treat them surgically to restore a youthful, refreshed appearance that holds up beautifully over time.”
