Former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger is guilty of murder in the deadly 2018 shooting of her unarmed neighbor Botham Jean, a Dallas County jury ruled Tuesday. The jury reached the verdict in Guyger's high-profile trial after six days of witness testimony, but just a handful of hours of deliberation.

Reactions to the guilty verdict have ran the gamut, from elation to caution to confusion. Some say she should have been found guilty of murder, others say that the entire thing was a mistake and that a manslaughter charge would be more appropriate.
